This Mauthe (type W370) motor wound movement
from Germany uses a motor and worm drive to wind a spiral spring which
powers a pin pallet balance wheel movement. When the spring is fully wound,
a lever is moved by a pin on the first gear wheel which pulls the motor
armature out of the motor housing by a small amount, thus disengaging the
brushes of the motor. After a few minutes, when the spring has run down,
another pin releases the lever and allows the motor armature to retract
into the motor body and make contact with the brushes again. This is a
very well made movement with jewelled bearings for the balance wheel.
