Diehl Motor-rewind Movement
(Motor Rewind)

Diehl Motor Wound movement

There are several implementations of motor wound movements, and in this one by Diehl of Germany, the motor winds a helical coil spring under the large gear wheel to drive a pin pallet balance wheel escapement. The motor is stopped by a lever behind the gear wheel pushing a nylon rod in the motor body (running vertically, just to the left of the worm drive) which disengages the brushes of the motor. After a few minutes, a cam on the gear wheel releases the lever which re-engages the motor brushes. The motor runs and turns the large gear wheel another revolution.
